About Us
Canty Bay takes its name from a stretch of Scottish coastline my family has returned to for years — a place defined by shifting skies, sharp light, and weather that never stays still. The idea of the brand name came from my daughter, and it stayed with me because it captured something essential: the idea that good outerwear should feel natural, familiar, and quietly dependable.
That idea sits at the centre of the brand. Canty Bay reflects a modern British approach to outerwear — engineered for rain, wind, and movement, but designed with a refined, understated aesthetic.
I started Canty Bay with a simple belief: outerwear should be built with purpose. Every jacket and overshirt is designed the way I learned to value things — honestly, practically, and with respect for the elements. Waterproof pieces engineered for unpredictable conditions, for movement, and for the quiet rhythm of everyday life.
Our naming follows the same philosophy. Each jacket is named after a landmark or location in East Lothian — places that shaped my understanding of weather, landscape, and the kind of clothing that truly earns its keep. These names are more than references; they’re anchors to the coastline that inspired the brand.
You’ll also find a set of coordinates on every label: 56.06° N, 2.76° W. They point directly to Canty Bay — the small stretch of coast where this brand was born. I include them as a marker of origin and intent. A reminder that every piece begins with a real place, real weather, and a real story.
Canty Bay is made in England for a reason. I work with small, highly skilled workshops that carry generations of craft knowledge — people who understand the responsibility of making something that lasts. Producing locally allows me to support British manufacturing, keep traditional skills alive, and ensure every jacket is made with the care and precision it deserves. It’s slower, more deliberate, and exactly how I believe outerwear should be made.
I don’t chase trends. I make garments that earn their place through function, repetition, and care. Pieces that grow better with time, not obsolete with seasons.
Canty Bay exists because I wanted outerwear I could rely on — something I’d reach for not because it was new, but because it worked and looks great. That’s the standard I build to, and the promise behind every piece that carries the Canty Bay name.
More than a label
Limited Availability
Canty Bay is more than a label.
It’s a growing community of wearers who value quality, rarity and clothing with a story grounded in use.
When a drop lands, availability is limited by how much we can make properly. Core designs may return in future runs, refined through learning, wear, and feedback - not replaced by trends.
